Angels Among Us
What do angels look like? If you ask the leadership at the Salvation Army, they will tell you that “angels” are children in our community whose families need extra support to make the holiday season bright. For the fifth year in a row, John Tyler Community College is helping to do just that for children in the Richmond and Petersburg areas by sponsoring the NBC12/Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Each of the past four years, faculty, staff and students have not only purchased gifts for 100 angels, but they have also spent time volunteering at area distribution centers, organizing and sorting gifts before they are distributed to families. And, they are doing it all again this year. If you are interested in adopting an angel, John Tyler Community College’s Angel Trees are located in Goyne Hall in Chester and the first floor of the Administration Building in Midlothian. Please remember to sign out your angel and return all gifts to Room A102c in Chester or Room B212 in Midlothian no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1. The College is also planning to coordinate two large volunteer efforts – one in Petersburg and one in Richmond. Additional information will be available soon.
